What to expect on your 1st visit
Your initial visit is a time for the doctor to get to know you, as well as determine whether or not you are a candidate for chiropractic care. Please allow approximately one hour for this visit.
Brief Paperwork
When you arrive we will have you sign in an fill out some brief paperwork that will provide us with general information about yourself and your condition. If you have any difficulty with the entrance paper work, one of our staff members will gladly assist you.
Examination
After you have finished with your paperwork, the doctor will meet you in an exam room to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as any available treatment options. In order to determine the specifics with regards to what your actual problem is, the doctor will ask you various questions related to your present complaint and your health history. Next, a thorough examination will be performed. This usually includes a range of motion evaluation, orthopedic testing, blood pressure, physical tests, and finally a chiropractic evaluation.
X-Rays
Sometimes it is necessary to perform special imaging studies such as an x-ray or MRI. These may be necessary to obtain additional information as well as explore any less than obvious details with your particular complaint.
Treatment
Once finished with the examination and all appropriate special studies, patients will generally be provided with their first treatment. This may include specific spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies.
Home Instructions
Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time.
Schedule Your Next Appointment
You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Most future visits will take less than 20 minutes. Your spouse, partner or parent is always welcome to attend and ask questions.
